Hearing and Speech Clinic at KU Med

Who we are

We offer important hearing care services for individuals of all ages through the Audiology Clinic at KU Medical Center in Kansas City, Kansas.

Clinical services are provided by certified doctoral-level audiologists who are also faculty members. Building upon this relationship with the KU Department of Hearing and Speech, these clinics not only serve the community’s hearing health care needs but provide students in KU's doctorage degree program in audiology with opportunities for essential experience in a modern clinical setting.

Services we offer

  • Complete evaluations for all ages, including “hard to test” individuals, performed in a sound booth to ensure complete, accurate testing

  • Expertise in newborn hearing loss

  • Comprehensive hearing evaluation and treatment

  • Specialized testing for Meniere’s Disease, tinnitus (“ringing in the ears”), and other hearing disorders

  • Selection, fitting and instruction with assistive listening devices, hearing aids, custom swim plugs, and noise protection

What is an Audiologist?

Audiologists are specialists in hearing health care and provide diagnostic and rehabilitative services to individuals with hearing problems. Specifically, audiologists specialize in the prevention, detection, assessment, and rehabilitation of hearing disorders.

Many audiologists fit and dispense hearing aids and give instructions on the use and care of hearing aids. In addition, many are also involved in programs which monitor and help prevent noise induced hearing loss. Audiologist also coordinate newborn hearing screening programs to identify hearing impairment at an early age. Find more resources for patients
